Pottery's, Tannery's, Dormitory's, and Weavery's

3/6/22- Yesterday we drove to Fes and got there late at night. Today we woke up and it was POURING rain so I finally got to use my rain jacket that was taking up 80% of my suitcase. After breakfast we went out with a local tour guide and he brought us all around the city. We went to a pottery/tile making place where we got to try our hand at the pottery wheel. With one failed attempt behind me and a proffesional who helped immensly, as in almost doing the whole thing while i spun the wheel, I made a plate! We learned that they break/carve all the mosaic tiles by hand and they gave us each a handmade heart. We saw the way they hand painted all of their pottery with presicion and learned that they only use natural minerals and plants for the colors. After the pottery place we went into the medina where we saw a dormitory for the students learning at the oldest university in the world. We went to a leather tannery that apparently infamously was smelly so they gave us mint to sniff. After the tannery we got lunch and tried Pastilla which is basically shredded pork covered in pastry and then dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon. We then went to a weavers shop and watched as he used a loom to make a beatifully designed rug.
