Tigers and lions and mummies... oh my!
3/28/22- While in Lisbon we wanted to get the most out of the city so we continued our exploration of it again today. Our first stop was at a castle that was destroyed in the earthquake that happened in 1755. The entire ceiling had caved in and most of the walls however it was rebuilt until the religeous orders in Portugal were abolished. There was a little room attatched that housed real mummies! Like straight up dead bodies in fetal position. It was nasty. After the cathedral we drove over to a shipbuilding museum where we learned that because Portugal sent out all the explorers who found the Americas they got the gold and thats how they could afford to build all their cities and pretty castles. After the shipbuilding munseum we went to a little outdoor area similar to SOHO New York. We found a cute bookstore that had books all the way up to the ceiling. After the village we walked to an acai place called Oak Berry that is a good contender for #1 best acai we've had. After getting acai we went to an old Moorish castle that was doubled as a fort. There were so many peacocks all over the castle it was crazy! They kept "talking" to each other. After the castle we took a little trolly car back to our car.
